President
Welcome to the University of Toronto and to our electronic community. This website gives you an overview of the university’s three campuses – St. George, Mississauga and Scarborough – and articulates many of the reasons why U of T is justly renowned nationally and internationally.
Founded in 1827, U of T is very much like the Toronto region itself: like the surrounding cities, it is a large, multicultural community with a great number of opportunities and resources; and, like Toronto, it is organized around neighbourhoods, where smaller gatherings of people come together to learn and think and work.
In our knowledge-based age, higher education has become essential to our prosperity and our quality of life. Working with members of our constituencies and communities, U of T strives to make far-reaching and positive differences in the world – through the education of our students and through our pioneering research. These efforts have led to amazing stories, many of which are told on this website. I invite you to take a few minutes and browse through the remarkable array of information available here.
On behalf of our students, faculty, staff and alumni, I hope you enjoy and benefit from your visit to the University, whether it is through this website or in person.
Carpe diem!
